Fantavious Fritz (aka Graham Foy) is a Canadian born writer, director, and photographer. Spanning narrative, music video, and commercial genres of filmmaking, Fantavious’ immersive work, known for its rich atmosphere and empathetic gaze, has garnered international awards, critical praise and commissions from high-profile clients.
In 2022, Fantavious impressed audiences around the world with “The Maiden,” his debut feature film, which was named Best New Discovery at The Venice Film Festival by The Guardian. The film made its Canadian premiere at TIFF in 2022 and debuted in the U.S. at MOMA’s New Directors, New Films showcase in April 2023. In 2020, his short film, “August 22, This Year,” was selected for the 59th edition of Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique.
Fantavious has worked with some of music’s most celebrated names, including Drake and Tyler the Creator, in addition to Toronto-based artists like Kaytranada. His direction of “Work,” for musician Charlotte Day, earned the Grand Prize at the 2018 Prism Prize Awards. In 2017, Fantavious was shortlisted for the Young Director Award in Cannes.
