Gary Ross’ first official trailer for Ocean’s 8 is finally here

/ Vanity Fair

At long last, the full first trailer for Ocean’s 8 has arrived in all its women-centric splendor. As expected, Sandra Bullock stars as Debbie Ocean, the incarcerated sister of Danny Ocean (played in the first set of films by George Clooney). The trailer starts in almost exactly the same way as Ocean’s 11's did, showing Ocean giving an interview from prison and lying through her teeth about what she’ll get up to once she’s free. But once she’s really out, she immediately begins planning another heist, this time setting her sights on a $150 million diamond necklace that will debut at the glitzy Met Gala.

Thanks to the trailer, we now have a more thorough breakdown of who each supporting star is playing: Cate Blanchett is Ocean’s right-hand woman, Mindy Kaling is a faux-diamond jewelry designer, Rihanna is a computer hacker named Nine Ball, Awkwafina is a Union Square pickpocket and swindler, Helena Bonham Carter is a timid fashion designer, and Sarah Paulson is a prim suburban mom with hidden skills up her sleeve. Anne Hathaway plays Daphne Kluger, the celebrity who will be wearing the pricey diamond necklace down the red carpet.

Ocean’s 8 hits theaters on June 8, 2018.
