Furlined US and UK welcome Nicolas Gordon to their rosters.
A 2022 graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Gordon has a sophistication and maturity that belies his relative youth. His keen instincts for pitch-perfect casting, finely-tuned execution of craft, and tack-sharp observations translate into well-told stories, serving to elevate every moment beyond the ordinary.
The industry has been quick to recognise his talent with several esteemed awards, including Bronze for New Director of the Year at shots awards: The Americas in 2024, Silver for New Talent at Ciclope, and shortlists at Cannes Lions and YDA in 2023. Work that has been particularly singled-out for praise includes Gil’s Grills for the Brooklyn Film Festival via Havas/New York, which was named in Adweek’s article Hidden Gems: The 10 Best Ads of 2023 You Haven’t Seen, amongst other accolades. Gordon has also partnered with notable brands and agencies such as Hyundai through Innocean and Pedigree out of BBDO.
Commenting on his approach, Gordon noted, “I am most comfortable in the uncomfortable. Forever seeking out moments of dissonant resonance, to find perfection in imperfection. The breath of a lens, the skip in a record, there is a tactility to it all… a physicality. That is where magic lives, in those in-between spaces, and that is where I want to be.”
Diane McArter, President and Founder of Furlined, said, “Nicolas has already brought his refreshing and refined visual, psychological, and comic sensibilities to the projects he has helmed. These qualities are rare in any director, much less a director this early in their career. Nicolas is a next-generation filmmaker. A voice for the new era, born out of deep knowledge, love and respect for the history of cinema and the art of advertising.”
On joining Furlined, Gordon said, “When I hear Furlined, I think ‘family.’ A place where directors are truly nurtured, reflecting profoundly in the quality of work that emerges. I couldn’t be more grateful to find myself a part of that and feel that I have found my home.”
